Have you ever thought about creating your own tour from the ground up? That's exactly what Tim McClendon of MIDWEST CLEAN COMEDY has done. Starting out with a just a website, he now books clean comedy shows at multiple comedy clubs in the midwest ... on a Saturday none the less!

Along side of Tim in this interview is long time friend Adam White. Adam is a very creative stand-up in his own right. He also handles a lot of work for Tom Sobel, former owner of the Comedy Caravan in Louisville.

Both fellows describe what their current roles are in booking comedians for events. They give many great insights and details that should help any comic get booked in ANY type of show.

Specifically, you'll discover:

  • The importance of a video
  • What type of video they prefer
  • The length of the video
  • Keeping the video current
  • How to make it easier to get booked
  • Creating a basic web presence
  • Why you might be overlooked for a booking
  • Posting your schedule
  • Being honest on your schedule
  • Doing the show you promised
  • Adjusting to clean crowds
  • How not to perform in front of kids
  • Bringing value to the comedy clubs
  • How NOT to send an email to a booker
  • Getting honest feedback from comics
  • Making the show work for the booker
  • Playing within the rules of the brand
  • How to contact Midwest Clean Comedy

  • Fix a Joke

We want to help as many comics as possible. If you have a short joke (100 words or less) that you would like some feedback on please send it in! This is a great place to be trying out new jokes! You can email the joke written out or send us an audio clip, or even a link to a YouTube video. We will get it on the show and get feedback for you, give out your web site and / or twitter handle to help you get your name out there. Our show is PG so please take that into consideration when selecting a joke.

Better yet, subscribe to the bi-monthly School of Laughs “Insider Tips” email and get exclusive information delivered right to your inbox. It’s fast, free useful and fun.
